i am now unemployed.

yep, you heard me. i lost my job. i would like to say it was because of something respectable like being laid off or finding work elsewhere, but my boss and i had some differences regarding my schedule. so i was fired.

here’s essentially how things went down:

Me: Hey Bill, can i work more hours/can you stop hiring other people to do my job without even asking me to pick up those shifts?

Bill (my boss): ARGHBLARGHBLAUGHHHHH!!!!

Me: Okay…

Bill: Well Laura, you don’t seem to have a very good attitude when you’re at work- like you don’t want to be there or something. i can’t hire you for more than one day a week. if that’s not enough for you, then i think you should just pick up your remaining paychecks and move on.

Me: Fine. cough *DICK!* cough

Bill: What?

Me: Nothing….

today i sent applications and resumes to a few places: among those were H&M (brand-spankin’ new here in Seattle, but i’ve shopped there in Sweden forever… the first outfit i ever wore was from H&M, if that gives any perspective), Crossroads Trading Co. (an indie consignment shop) and GrĂ¼v Records. but i found the best job just a little too late- they stopped accepting applications TODAY. merde! it was an opening for a “student assistant” at the Seattle Public Library. i would do things like shelve books, help old people find large-print copies, etc… SO much better than working in a pizza kitchen.

i will not give in. i will try again when they start accepting the new round of applications in October.

in the meantime, i should really find SOMETHING.

  1. Life sucks,

My brother in law lost his job last month and my sister in february, it’s not far from any one, I smell it sometimes b’cause I hate my job.

Visit my website and tell me what you think.

  2. Good luck with the job hunt!!

I linked to your blog through MarriageConfessions and oh my goodness, your mother is a trooper. I only know one person who had a C-section sans anesthetic and she basically swore off children after that. So. Wow. Cheers to your mom.
